I'm British (Is this a downside?) so I have an English accent, I honestly want to make one so I can eventually be invited to E3 and other game conventions. Are these all the wrong reasons?

I think you will find that a British accent will work to a benefit in many circumstances, as many Americans find it preferential to their own. That said, expect it to be used against you somewhat should you piss off anyone.

There's nothing wrong with a british accent, personally I don't even notice I have one? but for professional use on video blogging it may be better sd it's a universal language.
