Don't get me wrong I'm pretty sure this topics been made before but I couldn't find it looking for it. So, I'll make this short and sweet -

Is there a possibility of new aL servers appearing on any of the new CoD games?

Pros -
- More fun / variety of games to choose to play on
- More members
- More publicity possibly followed by more donations

Cons -
- * Not much of a scripter but I'm pretty sure someone will need to re-make or copy over the gametype and I have no idea how easy/hard that is
- New servers needed for the games = more donations needed monthly

I made this topic very quickly and am sure I'm missing out a lot of points, anyways - Post ideas, thoughts, answers below?

Believe me this discussion has been done several times to the point where it's kinda irritating, but we are looking at new games but it's not that easy to simply move to another server as a "main" server.


Previously thought of.

Could be good, but problem being that we'd probably have to get a mod in place.

I think that atm we have enough donations to keep aL running.
If aL puts more servers online than we got more costs.
If we can get more ppl to donate for the new servers to get b3 commands or extra options, than it is okay.

Yeah I remember the KF server, played it once or twice, didn't have the same feel to it.


- What about just keeping it in the CoD franchise though? I mean obviously I don't speak for everyone but I would give any CoD aL server a try.

We had this discussion before I belive. But it is not posible to make mods/maps for the new CoD games (Exept Black Ops, but we only got a porsion of the Mod tools) and MW3 is going to die out when the next CoD comes out (We all know this is going to happen).

Also, we have a dedi so servers does not cost anything because we just put it on there. EXEPT if we want servers for games like BF3/MW3, because they got "exclusive deals".

Also, every time we have tryed it failed.


EDIT: Also, most people here in aL, including me, have stoped buying the newer CoDs.

Possible get a minecraft server, look how successful stefan server was, me and stefan did a lot of advertising and now he gets donates and stuff.

I've seen the topic about bf3, but my clan got a bf3 server and if there like 4 of us on the server gets full in seconds (20 slot).

Possibly get a 20 slot server on bf3 or less and if it gets full a lot then include more slots.

With the CoD series you can try to mod on WaW, make a remake on WaW. Its still a popular game. But for mw3 and bops don't bother waste of time with what they offer.

Or you can get 2 more cod servers and put 2 mods on them like freeze tag, paintball, cod jumper, promod etc.... Before anyone says cod4 dieing take a look on xfire, its the second highest most played game.

Or you can wait for the new counter strike, they will deffo put mod tools on that game because look at the first counter strike. Was made before the first cod was made and its still popular. If so that means you can make a zombie mod on that game.

If you want a mapper for cod5 add illusion852, he knows how to make scripts and stuff. He does it for killercreation mod.

Or just ask any of the mappers here on afterlife, since radiant in cod4 and cod5 is really similar.

If we should get server on newer games I would suggest the most successful games.

Minecraft: Really successful game, a server doesn't cost too much and there's already zombies in it.

BF3: A server could be expensive (I don't know the prices) but I think it would be very successful. We have some BF3 players here (including me) and I would play A LOT on the server if we would get one. And I bet many others will play as well.

MW3: I don't really how much a server costs or how many people we have who plays it but could be successful. And myself, I hate the game...

We can't really think that we MUST have zombie mod, even though this is a "zombie community" we can't expect every server shall have a zombie mod. Look at BF3, you can't mod the game because of the engine. So probably some games in the future won't be able to be modded. So just think that if we can get a zombie mod, we get it. If we can't maybe we should consider about still getting one. We would gain more members/players and therefor more donations.

We should get our servers in new games because CoD2 and CoD4 can't live forever and we know it.
So far CoD2 is doing fine, at least now that we have new rotation players will play more.

BF3: There are like 10000 servers. Unless we can make ours special by mod. We are just like the 9999 other servers. -> no point

I doubt Activision or EA will include proper mod tools anytime soon. Their money-greediness is preventing it. Still I hope they do it.
If WaW has proper modtools we could get a modder and do a mod there. However the game seems pretty dead. On Xfire games list, even CoD1 has more hours than WaW.

But we could advertise about it on forum/server and we have our faithful aL members (who has the game) that plays. And I think almost everyone searches for servers with many people on and if we get many people on the server, more and more will join it.

Yes it's impossible to mod BF3, I know that.

And yes, the server will likely get populated, BUT if it has nothing special (which it won't). It will be just another server for the quests. That's what I mean.

Public dedi files wont be released for ages; probably not until the new cod is released by that time MW3 will be dead tbh.

BF3 server would be good, albeit pricey!

I agree that modding for the newer games might help boost us for a bit but we'll ultimately be in the same boat. Plus it will split the population up making the other servers seem less popular, happended when COD4 first came out!

I prefer to get a bf3 server, all we need is 10 of us on BOOM the server will sky rocket. Bf3 are way much easier to get populated compare to CoD.

We also had the conversation before about a BF3 server but the prices for a 48 or 64 player server were too expensive but from my view I see that a 32 player server is far enough. You don't need more players. And maybe somehow like in CoD2/4 you can have a donator password. Though I don't know how to do it.

Wether or not my 2 Cents are worth anything here, idk. But heres what I think bout all this.
New cod games won't work Just as it was said earlier,When the next cod comes out MW3 will die,Saw it with my own eyes when it first came out,Almost everyone left blops (Granted blops sucked anyways least in my opinion, lots of nabs love whatevers newest so they can be "in" in society). And if what was also previously said about new games noyt being able to be modded either like for Bf3 it's game engine or simply the tools aren't out,There really 2 other options, 1.Stay put 2. Go away from fps's In my opion fps games are starting to fail miserably,Theres nothing new it's basically the same boring stuff over and over and over repeated by the same company and then others. And fps games are the most popular so I say staying put prally is best.
